He won the junior Grand Slam 1983 and his first Grand Slam title, the Australian Open, 1985, repeated 1987. Other Grand Slam singles titles include Wimbledon 1988, 1990 and the US Open 1991 and 1992. At Wimbledon in 1987 he became the first male player in 40 years to win a match without conceding a game.
